What Are Plasma Televisions?

 by: Richard Gazzo

Televisions previous to the Plasma TV explosion used the (CRT) cathode ray tube to give users the ability to watch television. CRT televisions works by shooting out a beam of negative charged particles called electrons into a large glass tube. These negative electrons

For the past 75 years, the vast majority of televisions have been built around the same technology, the cathode ray tube (CRT). In a CRT television, a gun fires a beam of electrons (negatively-charged particles) inside a large glass tube. The electrons illuminate phosphor atoms inside the tube (screen), this allows the TV picture to be produced by illuminating different areas of the phosphor coating, this is what gives you the CRT television.

Now welcome to the new face of television, Plasma TV. Plasma has taken the home theater market by storm because of their amazing picture quality and very thin design. The idea of plasma display panels began in 1964 at the University of Illinois. The first displays were very primitive using only points of light created in the laboratory. As time went on digital processing, and other technology, made vivid plasma displays a reality.

Plasma televisions use a much different type of technology thatn CRT models, they use something called pixels. Using a video signal the pixels on the flat screen light up with a high-energy beam of electrons that are separated into the 3 primary colors, red, green and blue. From the illuminated fluorescent lights pixels you get the full color spectrum that produces a full range of colors that give you the image on the screen. Each pixel on the screen has three fluorescent lights in it, a green, red and a blue fluorescent light. Each fluorescent light in the pixel can produce 16 million colors, giving you amazing colors and overall picture quality that you can't finder in regular CRT televisions.

Another feature that you can't find in CRT TVs is the widescreen design found on Plasma televisions. The (16:9) aspect ratio is the same dimensions used in movie theaters. This feature gives Plasma flat screen high definition television models a cinematic feel, that is great for watching feature films, concerts, Monday Night Football or anything else you can imagine.

And unlike conventional television models, there are no scan lines on plasma televisions, so the picture is much sharper. The viewing angle is far superior than CRT, there is 170 degree viewing angle so you can basically watch the TV from any area in the room. As I mentioned before Plasma Tvs are very thin, only 3.3 inches in width. This makes them perfect for hanging on your wall, freeing up space in your home. Just like a picture frame, you can now hang your television on your wall!

So who manufacturers these thin TV displays? You can choose from numerous brand names which I'm sure you are familiar with such as, Sony, Sharp, Hitachi and Samsung to name a few. Plasma isn't the only technology available if you are a HDTV buff, you should also check out LCD televisions and rear projection TVs.

And if you want to find a cheap plasma TV, check out the discount deals available through internet, particularly Amazon.com and Ebay.com. Those 2 online merchants are trusted and can offer not only new, but used and refurbished models for even bigger savings.

Where Do You Go When The Thrill Has Gone?

Where Do You Go When The Thrill Has Gone?

 by: Sally Anderson

The gleam has gone out of the Axis on his desk. Even his pride in the Cannes Lion has waned. Jeff?s agency is on the shortlist for a blue-chip client they?ve been courting for years. Yet as he gazes out of his elevated office, across the silver harbour, his head throbs. His mouth feels dry. The thrill has gone.

Thousands of creatives, suits, planners, managers and directors live their lives focused on the next award, the newest client, the best campaign. We?re groomed and conditioned that way. But what happens when it stops being all there is? What happens when award winning ideas are replaced with questions? Life-altering, soul-splintering questions.

?We are trained in our society to live into, strive for, a future,? says Legacy Coach Sally Anderson. ?People seek validation in their self-worth through external goals. But what frequently happens is the goal never quite matches...

Objective Meditations: What is Reality?

Objective Meditations: What is Reality?

 by: Paul M. Jerard Jr.

Is reality a projection from within the mind, or is it an ?altered lens? into the outside world? Let?s look at the altered lens theory first. Obviously, we are not all looking at the world with the same lens or viewpoint. If that were possible, and we had a consistent moral code of ethics, we would have world peace.

Imagine no wars, conflict, divorce, or crime. It does make you think that John Lennon might have been thousands of years ahead of his time, when he wrote the lyrics for his song, ?Imagine.? Although, we may not agree with every word, the thought of global harmony captivates the mind.

Is this a reality? At this moment in time, it doesn?t look possible. Peace agreements seem so close, and then, an assassination, or a suicide bomb, changes everything. Why is this world not ready for a Mahatma Gandhi, Anwar Sadat, or Martin Luther King, Jr.?

Do we, as a species,...

Natural Breast Augmentation

Natural Breast Augmentation

 by: Dr Kourosh Tavakoli

Sydney plastic surgeon Dr Kourosh Tavakoli explains the key elements to a natural looking breast augmentation.

The number of breast enlargement procedures is increasing, and the demand for natural-looking breasts is paramount. A well-augmented breast has a natural fullness, with gentle sloping of f the chest wall. There should be natural cleavage without webbing between the breasts and only a certain amount of perkiness.

There are three main telltale signs of unnatural breast augmentation:

Implant margin - It should be soft and imperceptible, as obvious implant edge visibility, especially in the midline, will resemble the 'Tori Spelling' look.

Implant size - An implant that is too large for a small frame is a dead giveaway. The best example of this would be 'Pamela Anderson' breasts.

Perkiness - An augmented breast that is too perky will tend to look fake, as a small...

LCD TV Checklist: Are you Prepared?

LCD TV Checklist: Are you Prepared?

 by: Tim Jeffries

LCD flat screen TVs provide a superior picture as compared to a traditional television - and they can come in more attractive styles to boot.
A flat screen LCD TV can be mounted on a wall, under a cabinet, on the ceiling? or can sit on a stand or on top of furniture.
LCD TVs are versatile, flexible, and provide a better entertainment experience? but how do they work?

LCD flat screen TVs, and LCD technology itself, is based on the properties of polarized light.
LCD TVs consist of two, perpendicularly arranged panes of polarized glass "stuck together" by a liquid-crystal-filled polymer solution. When they are exposed to electrical currents, the crystals untwist to varying degrees, permitting specific amounts and colors of light to pass though them.
Flat screen LCD TVs are, in effect, projection TVs that depend on an extremely bright lamp as their light source,...
